Mezzo-Soprano April Golliver, Associate Professor of Voice at Oklahoma State University, holds a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University. Ms. Golliver is the 2008 recipient of the Wise-Diggs-Berry award for teaching excellence at Oklahoma State University.

Ms. Golliver has served as a principle artist with Light Opera Oklahoma throughout the summers of 2006 through 2009. As a principle artist, she has performed the roles of the Witch (Into the Woods), Paquette (Candide), Edith (Pirates of Penzance), Mrs. Eynsford-Hill (My Fair Lady), Tessa (The Gondoliers), Mrs. Segstrom (A Little Night Music), Yvonne (Naughty Marietta), Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), Alma Hix (The Music Man), Bloody Mary (South Pacific), La Paloma (The Barber of Lavapies), and Lady Sangazure (The Sorcerer). In addition, she has performed with Canterbury Choral Society, Tulsa Signature Symphony, Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, Wichita Grand Opera, and Bartlesville Choral Society. Ms. Golliver will make her Tulsa Opera debut in the spring of 2010 performing the role of Giovanna in Rigoletto.

In 2005, Ms. Golliver performed throughout the Czech Republic as alto soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. In addition, she was a district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition. Ms. Golliver made her professional debut with Des Moines Metro Opera. She has also made public appearances at the Aspen Music Festival and the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium in Spoleto, Italy. In 1988, she made her oratorio debut in Mendelssohn’s Elijah under the conductor, Robert Porco.

Ms. Golliver’s operatic credits include such roles as Carmen (Carmen), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Erika (Vanessa), Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin), Princess Clarissa (The Love for Three Oranges), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), and the Old Lady (Candide). She has also performed as concert artist in Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major and Choral Fantasy, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Brahm’s Alto Rhapsody.

Ms. Golliver, a native of Oklahoma, is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Tau Beta Sigma, Pi Kappa Lambda, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
