KEYBOARD AREA AUDITION INFORMATION

Prospective students planning to pursue music as a major must audition successfully for the piano faculty. Those wishing to audition for a Bachelor's or Master's degree (and an undergraduate keyboard scholarship or a graduate assistantship) should ideally do so by early March of 2008 to receive full consideration, although we do schedule later auditions if necessary. Our comprehensive Music Department Audition Day is Saturday, February 16th, and we have set up an additional keyboard audition date of Saturday, March 8th, 2008 for those who are not able to come in February. In the event that neither of the dates above is feasible for an audition, please utilize the "Contact" link to have one of our piano faculty members assist you in scheduling another date and time.

We require two (for Music Education, Music Business, and Bachelor of Arts applicants) or three (for Music Performance applicants) contrasting pieces to be performed from memory for entrance into our Bachelor's degrees.

For Master's degree auditions, we require auditionees to prepare four complete contrasting works of an appropriately advanced difficulty level, ideally one each from the baroque through modern eras.

Undergraduate piano scholarships are offered only to those who declare piano as their major instrument. Those who wish to pursue music minors, or for whom piano is not their primary instrument, are not eligible to receive piano scholarships. These students may, however, still enroll in piano lessons and audition to receive scholarship funding through participation in one of OSU's vocal or instrumental ensembles. (For more information regarding these ensembles, please access their pages through this site's Home Page.)

Please read the information included with the “Scholarships” link on the Music Department website and return the Scholarship Form to the address listed. This will serve as your audition registration.
